Gene's first foray with Wiley Publishing was writing Avengers For Dummies which released in September 2025. This book covers the history and pivotal moments throughout the lore of the franchise.

Gene is working on his second book with Wiley Publishing with renowned wrestling journalist Bryan Alvarez. Professional Wrestling For Dummies will be released in the summer of 2026.

And How They Rumbled was Gene’s first nonfiction book in which he covered the greatest matches of his first forty years of life. This book launched at number one in its category on Amazon.

Gene’s comic book credits include a pulp horror story in Terminal; a story about an undercover cop, monsters and an underground wrestling promotion in Kayfabe; and a supernatural retelling of Alice in Wonderland in the Wild West in Elsewhere. However, his cyberpunk investigative thriller was his highest profile short story as it was featured in the anthology, Puerto Rico Strong, in which all proceeds went towards disaster relief in P.R. The book was nominated for the 2018 Diamond Gem Award. In addition to this, it won an Eisner Award and was also chosen by the National Council for Social Studies and the Children's Book Council for 2019's Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People.

The Ghoul Agency is an all-ages horror comedy series from Action Lab Entertainment that was nominated for a Ringo Award for Best Kids Comic/Graphic NovelShay Melendez is a hard working creative for a unique advertising agency, one that caters to clientele ranging from mad scientists to creatures of the night. Can Shay land an account that her micro-managing literal demon of a boss is sure to fumble?

On top of all of that, Gene is writing a comic book series for Myth Division, a tie-in to a video game, VoxoDeus.

Peter Pan: The Land of Forever was written by Gene Selassie, with a story by Francis Taylor. It is a direct sequel to the novel, Peter Pan in Scarlet and has several well-known stars attached, such as Ben Foster and Danny Trejo.

Gene has dozens of feature stories as the Lead Writer, managing a team of writers for the Pro Wrestling/MMA division of the wrestling column at TheScrumSports.com (where he was nominated by Best of the Bay in 2017 for Best Local Sports Writer). He is also featured on the Thumbtacks & Screwjobs pro wrestling podcast.
